Wellington, Mar 29(ANI): New Zealand cricket head David White has admitted the presence of a 'positive tension' between coach John Wright and director of cricket John Buchanan.
White has said he would be surprised if this positive tension would affect Wright's decision to extend his contract as Kiwi coach.
"In any professional sporting organization, you have strong people, and sometimes, you have positive tension. Sometimes, that's a good thing because you get outcomes," Stuff.co.nz quoted White, as saying.
"They're strong personalities. I've got no issue with the structure and they're the reporting lines. It works pretty well, but at times there is robust debate," he added.
When asked if Wright was prepared to walk away from the job because of issues with Buchanan, White said: "I certainly don't think that's the case."
White wants the coaching role confirmed by the end of April. He agreed before the South Africa series to give Wright time before discussing a contract extension to start in mid-August.
"Obviously it's a priority for NZC. We'll give John some space, it's been a long period of cricket, and then we'll sit down and discuss the future," he said. (ANI)
