St Lucia (West Indies), Mar 28(ANI): Australia has won the first of two Twenty20 matches against West Indies by eight wickets at the Beausejour Cricket Ground in St Lucia.
Veterans Shane Watson and Michael Hussey hit impressive half centuries to help the Australian team surpass the Windies' target of 150.
Watson scored 69, whereas Hussey remained unbeaten on 59, as Australia cruised to 153 for the loss of two wickets in 18.1 overs, Sports24 reports.
After electing to bat, the West Indies made 150-7, and it owed much to a blustery 26 ball knock of 54 from Kieron Pollard that featured two fours and five sixes.
Four of those came off consecutive balls in the 16th and 17th overs, and his half-century off 20 balls was the fastest half-century by a West Indian batsman in this format as he broke Chris Gayle's record of a 23-ball half century.
Daniel Christian was Australia most effective bowler, taking three for 27. (ANI)
