Kolkata, March 28 (IANS) Only 11 percent Indian women are comfortable travelling alone within the country as opposed to 18 percent women who are more at east travelling abroad.
"Indian women are ready to head out by themselves on a holiday, with 64 percent willing to travel alone on leisure," according to data released by a leading tour and travel planning website.
"A disheartening trend is that only 11 percent women are comfortable travelling alone within India as opposed to 18 percent more comfortable travelling internationally," it said.
Nikhil Ganju, country manager, TripAdvisor India, said among all the six key metros, Kolkata with 17 percent (men and women combined) has the highest percentage of travellers looking to travel only internationally.
