New Delhi, Mar 27 (ANI): Addressing the Parliament on the allegations made by Army Chief that he was offered a bribe of Rs. 14 crore, Defence Minister A.K Antony on Tuesday said that he will go to any extent to investigate General V.K Singh's allegations.

"I will not tolerate corruption. I told army officials. At any stage of procurements if a corruption charge is proved then I will go to any extent to cancel the contract", Antony said.

He said he is ready to cancel any contract tainted by corruption.

"I will cancel any contract if charges are proved. I will take action against anybody found guilty," he added.

Antony further said that he never received a written complaint from the Army Chief.

"More than a year ago, exact date, the Army will know. During one of the Service Chief's meetings, the Army chief told me about this . V.K Singh told me that one General, I think Tejinder Singh, offered him a bribe," Antony added

"I said take actions. But he (VK Singh) told me I don't want to pursue it," Antony said.

General Singh had earlier told the National daily 'The Hindu', that "he was offered Rs.14 crore bribe by an equipment lobbyist in order to have a tranche of 600 sub-standard vehicles of a particular make cleared for purchase.

General V. K. Singh said, "One of these men had the gumption to walk up to me and tell me that if I cleared the tranche, he would give me Rs.14 crore. He was offering a bribe to me, to the Army Chief. He told me that people had taken money before me and they will take money after me."

General V. K. Singh also told the newspaper that he had reported the incident to A. K. Antony. (ANI)
