Beijing, March 27 (IANS) Chinese Police have been ordered to step up their war on crimes involving guns and explosives.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Huang Ming said police "must fully bear in mind" the importance of fighting gun and explosive-related crimes He was speaking at a conference Monday.
The government Monday issued a notice calling on those who have illegal weapons to turn them over to the police by the end of May. Those who meet the deadline will receive a lighter punishment, Xinhua reported.
