New Delhi, Mar.26 (ANI): The government will hold a dialogue with ULFA representatives on April 9, as part of efforts to bring a lasting solution to the decades-old insurgency problem in Assam.
Union Home Secretary R K Singh will lead the government team at the talks with the ULFA delegation led by its so-called chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa.
Both sides are expected to discuss the ULFA's "charter of demands" which, among others, seeks amendment in the Constitution for finding meaningful ways to protect the rights and identity of the indigenous people of Assam.
Observance of ground rules, signed by both sides, surrender of arms and ammunition and total halt of operations by security forces against the pro-talk faction are the other key issues likely to be discussed, sources said.
The dialogue is being held after October 25. (ANI)
