Imphal (Manipur), Mar.26 (ANI): A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 24 Assam Rifles organised a medical camp here on Sunday.
Specialist doctors in the field of pediatrics, medicine, surgery and dentistry examined more than 200 patients and distributed free of cost medicines to the locals.
Villagers thronged the medical camp and were elated to get free check up by specialized army doctors.
"The medical camp has benefited us a lot. We got free medical check up and we are getting medicines as well. I have eyes problem, so I came here for eye treatment and other problems due to climate change. I got spectacles here. I hope to be better after taking their medicines," said a local, Henminthang Haokip.
The army staff also organised an interactive session with the locals in a bid to educate them about seasonal diseases and its precautionary measures.
On the other hand 24 Assam Rifles unit has also been carrying out various developments projects for the benefit of villagers.
"As you are aware that Assam rifles being virtue of the guardians of the sentinels of the east we are carrying out a lot of development activities in terms of infrastructure development, provision of solar lights and IT tours, etc," Commander 26th Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier Upendra Dwivedi told reporters.
The occasion was also utilized for spreading cancer awareness among the locals and encouraging the youth for recruitment in Assam Rifles. (ANI)
