Durban, Mar 24(ANI): South African batsman Hashim Amla has undergone surgery for groin injury after being hit by New Zealand paceman Chris Martin's delivery yesterday.
Amla was rushed to the Wellington Hospital for exploratory surgery after scoring 63 for the Proteas in their total of 136-2 on the first day of the third cricket test.
"Hashim underwent emergency exploratory surgery resulting from blunt trauma sustained to his groin region," stuff.co.nz quoted South Africa's team manager, Dr Mohammed Dr Moosajee, as saying.
"He spent the night in hospital and was discharged this morning. The surgeon is satisfied with the outcome and expects Hashim to make a full recovery, however, it is unlikely that he will be able to take further part in the current test match at the Basin Reserve," he added. (ANI)
