Moscow, March 24 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A new legislation passed in Russia prohibits people convicted under "extremist" statutes of the penal code from working with minors.
The ban applies to fields such as education, training, medical services, recreational activities, sports and social security.
Lawmakers believe that the new law will help prevent the spread of "extremist" behaviour among children and young people.
The State Duma, the lower house of parliament, passed the bill Friday.
The law, however, must be approved by the upper house -- the Federation Council -- and signed by the president before it comes into force.
