London, Mar 22(ANI): Bolton Wanderer's team doctor Jonathan Tobin has said the club will stick with midfielder Fabrice Muamba till the end, as he is a part of the Bolton family.
After suffering from an almost fatal cardiac arrest during Bolton's FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane, Muamba has started a miraculous fight back in hospital, but now a huge question mark hangs over his career.
He has two more years on his contract at the Reebok, but the club feels they have a 'duty of care' to look after him until then and beyond.
"I think the over-excited talk of Fabrice returning to football is irrelevant. He's still in the ICU and unaware of anything that has been said about him. He doesn't know the implications this has had on the whole planet," The Sun quoted Tobin, as saying.
"This is the first step in a long, long road. But this is a family club and we look after our own. Of course, we'll stand by him," he added.
Bolton has previously shown they will look after their stars no matter what.
Their injury-jinxed former midfielder Joey O'Brien did not play a single game during his last two and a half years at the club. His final appearance turned out to be in October 2008, yet 12 months later he was given a one-year extension to his deal.
That saw him through until he finally left for West Ham last summer and Bolton has vowed to take care of Muamba in the same way. (ANI)
