Footie stars 'routinely hook-up with girls on Facebook'

Melbourne, Mar 21 (ANI): A Brisbane tanning salon owner has claimed in her defamation case against radio station 2UE that footballers regularly 'hook up' with girls on Facebook before 'courting' them with sexually explicit photos and texts.

The District Court was shown unaired ABC footage in which Charmyne Palavi listed pornographic videos, suggestive messages and pictures of scantily clad footballers that numerous high-profile players had sent her, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The 41-year-old mother of three, who has admitted having sexual liaisons with quite a few professional footballers, told the court she first met one high-profile player she later had a relationship with through Myspace or Facebook.

Soon after, she received a video from the representative player's phone of him masturbating - something she insisted she "didn't want to see".

She also mentioned about texts allegedly sent by another first-grade footballer that said, "f ... I'm always horny".

Palavi is suing 2UE for defamation after on-air comments made by former presenter Steve Price and entertainment reporter Peter Ford in 2009.

She asserts that they wrongly suggested she was running a brothel service connecting NRL players and underage girls for sex.

The broadcast followed a tell-all interview by Palavi on ABC's Four Corners in which she revealed NRL players used Facebook to pick up girls.

In an excerpt played to the court, Palavi told interviewer Sarah Ferguson: "I have players contacting me going 'I'm getting a lot of friend requests from your page, they're all female, they're all hot, keep them coming'."

In the never-screened footage she identified the source of the comment as a prominent footballer who she said was the only player who asked her to "keep them coming".

"I wasn't keeping anything coming," she said

"Girls would friend request me and then they would in turn go through my friend list and friend request (the player)."

In more unseen footage, Palavi compared Facebook to online dating service RSVP.

She said anyone who couldn't "pick up" on the site "wasn't trying".

"Facebook gives these players access to a heap of girls at once," she said.

"Especially the married (players), the ones with partners, they don't have to be seen going up to girls in pubs or in clubs," she added.

Palavi denied in the court on Tuesday any footballers had approached her to contact women on her Facebook page or that her profile was being used to help women meet players for sex. (ANI)
