Abbottabad commission probing Osama raid summons former Pak spy chiefs

Islamabad, Mar 21 (ANI): The Abbottabad commission has summoned former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chiefs Gen (Retd) Ziauddin Butt and Lt. Gen. (Retd) Nadeem Taj, and Brig (Retd) Ijaz Shah, Former DG (IB) to give their viewpoint on the May 2 raid by US Navy SEALS that killed former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

 

Besides, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also be summoned, The Dawn reports.

 

Earlier, former ISI chief Ziauddin Butt had confessed that Ijaz Shah, who was heading the Intelligence Bureau (IB) during former President Pervez Musharraf's tenure, was aware of Osama bin Laden's presence in Abbottabad.

 

The commission would reportedly submit its final report after it completes recording statements from all the respondents. (ANI)
