Panda dung tea world's most expensive at 130 pounds per cup

London, Mar 20 (ANI): Tea fertilised with Panda dung is set to be sold for 130 pounds a cup - making it the most expensive in the world.

Chinese entrepreneur An Yanshi says his organic tea is a healthy and smooth natural brew.

The 41-year-old grows the tea in mountainous Ya'an in Sichuan province using excrement from pandas living at nearby breeding centres.

The unusual ingredient was chosen by Yanshi for its unique health qualities.

Pandas, which eat only wild bamboo, absorb around only 30 per cent of their nutrients - meaning more than 70 per cent of the food's goodness is passed out in their excrement.

"They keep eating and they keep producing faeces," Sky News quoted him as saying.

"I just want to convey to the people of the world the message of turning waste into something useful, and the culture of recycling and using organic fertilisers," he said.

Premiere batches will be sold in lots of 50 grams (approximately 16 cups of tea) for 2,200 pounds.

The former teacher and journalist has defended the pricey product explaining the profits made from the initial batch of the exclusive tea will go towards an environmental fund.

"I thank heaven and earth for blessing us with this environmental panda tea," Yanshi said. (ANI)
