Pyongyang, Mar 20 (ANI): The United Nation nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, has said that has received an invitation from North Korea to resume monitoring parts of its atomic program.
Without disclosing the North's terms, Gill Tudor, spokeswoman for the IAEA, confirmed the overture from Pyongyang.
The move came amid increased international tensions generated by North Korea's announcement that it has planned to launch a long-range rocket mounted with a satellite in honour of its late former President Kim Il-Sung's birthday next month.
Tudor said her agency received the invitation on Friday, the same day the North announced the planned launch, Fox News reports.
According to the report, the North agreed to a nuclear moratorium with Washington last month, but its planned missile launch has tarnished hopes that the deal will be realized. (ANI)
