New York, Mar 20 (ANI): Alex Rodriguez is disputing the 17,604-dollar charge on his American Express Black Card after he took his niece on a shopping spree along with girlfriend, Torrie Wilson.
The baseball player took his 20-year-old niece, Michelle Silva and Wilson to Blue and Cream on February15.
Silva picked out a 1,250-dollar pair of shoes by Chrissie Morris, dresses by Herve Leger and other goods.
"Torrie was being price-conscious, but the niece was throwing in more and more clothes," the New York Post quoted a store representative as saying.
"Rodriguez joked around with the saleswomen while the girls shopped," he added.
They walked out the door with 17,604 dollars worth of goods, all paid for by the sportsman on his black American Express card.
According to sources, when Silva got home, her mom became concerned that her wealthy brother had spoiled her daughter with expensive goods, and told Silva to return the clothes.
The player's people then called the store repeatedly asking to return the clothes, but were informed Blue and Cream doesn't issue refunds, only store credit.
Silva sent an e-mail to store management, saying she couldn't keep the goods, and warned that her uncle will have to take "further measures" if a refund wasn't issued.
This weekend, Blue and Cream was notified that Rodriguez is disputing the charges.
"It's ridiculous. Completely ridiculous... We have security tapes and coverage of him at the checkout counter. We're completely not in the wrong," a store representative said. (ANI)
