Neil Warnock forgives Tevez despite job loss

London, Sat, 17 Mar 2012 ANI

London, Mar 17 (ANI): Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has said he has forgiven Carlos Tevez for costing him his job and getting Sheffield United relegated.

Tevez scored a final-day winner for West Ham at Manchester United five years ago to save the Hammers and send the Blades down.

Warnock's eight-year spell as boss of his beloved United quickly ended, even though Tevez was not eligible to play for West Ham, The Sun reports.

The striker, now at Manchester City, was in breach of the Premier League's third party ownership rules. But the FA did not dock points from the Hammers and fined them 5.5 million pounds instead. West Ham were also ordered to pay the Blades 10 million pounds in compensation. Warnock is now boss at Leeds, who are at home to West Ham today.

"I have met Tevez since then. He had a big smile on his face. I told him 'You cost me ?1million, thank you.' I think he understood! But the matter was dealt with and Sheffield United came out of it very well financially," he said.

"But I never got a penny - and that probably rankled with me more than what Tevez did," he added. (ANI)
