London, Mar 17(ANI): India's finest cricketer Sachin Tendulkar completed his century of centuries but this just is an artificial record for the Little Master, something of statistical irrelevance for him, an opinion piece in the Guardian has claimed.
Tendulkar is already a modern cricketing great, and the 100th century just added to his already burgeoning reputation of being the best player to embrace the sport, but for the master blaster it was nothing but just another record, it said.
The fact that Tendulkar, now 38, has scored exactly 100 centuries in India's colours is, a statistical irrelevance, it added.
According to the paper, Tendulkar has already achieved a stature in his country, which many would envy of. He is already treated as a cricketing god in India, and his magical feat would just add to the frenzy.
His every move is scrutinized, his celebrity, the sheer adoration that he embraces from a country of a billion people, is perhaps unmatched in the history of sport. His image is everywhere, yet it doesn't deter him, it said.
Tendulkar's genius needs no further augmentation here, or indeed anywhere. One more century, which he has finally achieved against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup in Dhaka, makes him neither a better player nor worse, it added.
His longevity in the games gives him an unparalleled practical knowledge of batting at the highest level and nothing is left to chance, it concluded. (ANI)

There is no doubt that Sachin is a great player and a lover of his profession. He has brought something unique to Indian cricket. In fact India was depending on sachin's willow to win matches. A man of coolest temperament and a great sport person. He deserves to be a member of the team India. Having said that, It is also important to realize the fact, that India has produced some exemplary young cricketers, who have combined to take Indian cricket to its pinnacle, without the master blaster. The hundredth hundred scored in Bangladesh may be a special one for Tendulcar, it is not a special one for India. His chances to achieve the mile stone were many and chances that he missed are also many. In hat particular match against Bangladesh, determination to reach the top was written all over his body, nothing could hide it. He took no risks and allowed many dot balls, which prevented India to reach a score of 300 +. The manner of his game was so conspicuous, he never had any thought, other than his mile stone, in his mind, costing India a precious 20 odd runs that would have propped India a better chance to be in the finals. If the hundred had come with grit and to achieve the purpose, it would have been a wonderful innings to be ingrained in our memorably. On the other hand, the only thing that we will remember is that Suchin's hundredth hundred prevented India the much needed win to be in the semi final. It is the same story in the Indian cricket repeating itself; depending on other teams win or loss for us to be in the final. It happened in Australia. It happened in 2007 world cup. It is happening in Asian cup; either India must win with Pakistan or Sri Lanka must win against Bangladesh. Therefore, this cannot be a proud moment for many of us. A younger player in Suchin's place would have ensured India in the Asia cup Final. What is better. Individual records or a nation's pride. India seem to be unaware of her priorities, whether in sports or in defense of the country. If India fails to win the Asia cup, the mile stone will be remembered for negativeness.
