Washington, Mar 16(ANI): Jurors in the webcam spying case involving a former Indian origin Rutgers student have completed two days of deliberations and have not reached a verdict.
Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman sent the jurors home with instructions to reconvene today, Fox News reports.
The jury has now deliberated for nearly ten hours over two days.
Dharun Ravi is accused of web-streaming his gay roommate Tyler Clementi's live encounter with his date inside their dorm room and publicising the incident through texts and Twitter posts.
The incident has sparked off a debate over privacy rights and the bullying of gay youths after Clementi committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge on learning that his encounter had been web-streamed.
Ravi is not charged in connection to Clementi's death, but is facing 15 counts, including invasion of privacy, evidence and witness tampering and bias intimidation-a hate crime which could land him in prison for ten years.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The jury comprises eight women and seven men, with three of the 15 designated as alternates. The alternates are not participating in the deliberations.he jury verdict sheet includes 35 questions on which the jurors must agree unanimously.
During the trial, the jurors heard over two dozen witnesses testify over a 12-day period, but Ravi decided not to take the stand in his defense. (ANI)
