London, Mar.16 (ANI): Survivors of a bus crash that killed 22 children and six adults in a tunnel in Switzerland, have reportedly told their families that the driver was helping to change a DVD seconds before the accident.
Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws said its probe concluded this was a possible reason why the bus smashed into the wall of a motorway tunnel.
According to The Mirror, tearful relatives yesterday carried out the heartbreaking task of identifying the bodies of loved ones before they are repatriated to Belgium and the Netherlands.
Families were driven from a hotel in the southern Swiss town of Sion to the nearby morgue where the bodies of some victims of Tuesday night's crash had been placed.
Police spokesman Jean-Marie Bornet said: "Where possible, the bodies will be shown to the families. In some cases, this is not possible because the bodies are too badly injured."
Relatives then left floral tributes at the Tunnel de Geronde on the A9 motorway near the town of Sierre were 21 Belgians and seven Dutch were killed.
Officials in Belgium said yesterday they were planning to fly bodies home in military planes as early as last night.
Authorities also announced that today will be a national day of mourning. (ANI)
