Swamy slams Home Ministry for relaxing rules to bring ammonium nitrate

New Delhi, Mon, 12 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 12 (ANI): Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Monday criticized the Union Home Ministry for relaxing the rules to pave the way for bringing ammonium nitrate into the country in non-bagged form.

"In Home Ministry every purchase there is a commission being collected, even on bulletproof vest so on. So, here also there must be a corruption angle. Otherwise I do not see why anybody with common sense would want ammonium nitrate to come in open, non-bagged form," said Swamy.

"So, pilferage can take place very easily and you know you don't have to pilfer very much, one to two kilograms only you can set off an explosion of the type that happened in Bombay," he added.

After security agencies have found the substance used by several terror groups to carry out blasts in India, the government has decide to control availability of ammonium nitrate.

The substance may soon be brought under the Explosive Substances Act, to regulate its use.

Swamy sought Chidambaram's resignation over his alleged in the 2G spectrum scam.

"This is a most open incitement for corrupt motifs to terrorist activities in India. I didn't realize that when Chidambaram talked about Hindu terror in India, he was actually meaning himself because he is now must be a Hindu because he has been to Kerala to many temples to save him from the 2G cases. So, I therefore demand Chidambaram's resignation on this account also," he added.

When asked to comment over the probable creation of a Third Front, Swamy said that if a front is formed then he couldn't stop it.

"I believe that on moral and stability grounds, NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is the best option. If third front would come then nobody can stop it but my proposition is that my future lies with the NDA," he said. (ANI)
