Sydney, Mar 11(ANI): Former cricketer Darren Berry has congratulated Australian cricket's selection committee for bringing about a new breed of young cricketers, who would secure the country's cricketing future.
"The new selection panel should be congratulated with the unearthing of new players that in fairness to the old panel had been earmarked by them," Berry wrote in his column for The Age.
He was delighted with the way Michael Clarke has taken over the captaincy from Ricky Ponting, and is impressed with his treatment of spinner Nathan Lyon.
"The biggest plus has been the way captain Michael Clarke has taken over from Ricky Ponting and elevated his own game to a new level," Berry said.
"His handling thus far of a raw but exciting Nathan Lyon as the No. 1 spinner has been impressive. Clarke is keen to make his mark as a leader and is prepared to do it his way," he added.
He further added that young fast bowler James Pattinson was the find of the season for Australian cricket.
"James Pattinson is the find of the summer in my eyes. He is fast, strong, athletic and loves the contest," he said. (ANI)
