Agartala, Mar 10 (ANI): In an attempt to provide basic facilities like education and health to people living in border areas of Tripura, the Border Security Force (BSF), which runs a Civic Action Programme in border villages, recently organized a medical camp in the state's Sonamura sub-division.
Nirbhaypur, K K Nagar and Radhanagar are such remote villages near the India-Bangladesh border, which do not have access to such facilities.
"Such initiatives would definitely help develop good relations and also help in curbing border crime. They will also help the youth lead a better life," said A K Hemrom, commandant, 29th battalion, BSF.
Education and sports material including computers, books and pencils worth 3.5 lakh rupees were also distributed to local schools to aid some 500 students during the camp.
"BSF is providing educational material to students such as pens, pencils, bags, books and sports items. The local healthcare centre also provides items like stretchers and wheelchairs," said Md. Mustan Mian, village head.
"Such activities will improve relations between the villagers and the BSF and also help in curbing border crimes. The new generation will walk the path of development," said Subrata Kumar Debnath, a teacher.
The Civic Action Programme by the Border Force aims to inculcate a sense of security by developing cordial relations and harnessing co-operation with villagers living in border areas. (ANI)
