London, Mar 10(ANI): Interim Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has said he isn't interested in being a nice guy for the players, as he is completely focused on salvaging a derelict season for Chelsea.
Di Matteo has been asked to take the job of managing Chelsea following last Sunday's sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
The former Chelsea player believes he has no friends and anyone claiming to be his friend would be lying.
"I think 'friends' is a big word. I'm not sure how many friends you have. I don't have any, actually. If someone comes up to me and says 'I met a friend of yours the other day', they are a liar," The Sun quoted Di Matteo, as saying.
"I don't have any friends. That's my outlook. I've had a few experiences in my life which have taught me about friendship" he said.
"OK, I'm taking it to the extreme. But it takes a lot to become my friend. Football has made me this way. It has been experiences in life, which have taught me this. But that's my private life," Di Matteo added.
Di Matteo addressed the squad in full and ingeniously pulled each player aside for a private chat.
"There are only a couple of players left here now who I played with. But I've been back here since July and I know the players and the atmosphere," he said.
"I've thrown myself into the work I need to do and tried to speak to the players individually and get them on board,' he added. (ANI)
