Washington, Mar 7(ANI): Five people accused of being top members of the computer hacking group, LulzSec, have been arrested, and will face charges in New York.
The hacker group has been implicated in several security breaches, including that of the Central Intelligence Agency in the past.
The five were either under arrest or were being sought, a law enforcement official said.
Unconfirmed reports claimed they had been turned in by their leader, known as "Sabu", who is dubbed one of the most powerful hackers in the world.
Allegations levelled against them are expected to be revealed in court, a law enforcement official spoke, on condition of anonymity, because the charges have not yet been officially announced.
LulzSec is an offshoot of the loosely organized hacking group Anonymous.
Its members attained notoriety after attacking public broadcaster PBS' website and posting a story claiming that the slain rapper Tupac Shakur was alive and living in New Zealand. (ANI)
