Alexandra Burke fuels romance rumours by cheering Defoe on Twitter

London, Mar 5 (ANI): Alexandra Burke has sparked romance rumours with Tottenham Hotspurs footballer Jermain Defoe, when she cheered him on Twitter despite being a Manchester United supporter.

The X Factor 2009 winner was watching the Premier League game on TV at the Koko club in Camden, North London, where she was pre-recording a performance for T4 show Koko Pop.

Also at the club with her was TV presenter Jameela Jamil and rapper Wretch 32 - who posed for a photo with Burke for her Twitter page, the Daily Mail reported.

After tweeting Wayne Rooney an encouraging message, she then wrote: "LOL. Gwarn (go on) Defoe... ;) 3."

But unfortunately for the 29-year-old, his team lost 3-1 at the White Hart Lane in Sunday afternoon match.

The England striker and the 23-year-old have been friends for years, but have said to have turned their friendship to romance in recent weeks.

The pair were spotted dining at London's Landmark Hotel on Thursday night and again at the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund UK Annual Gala Dinner at Madame Tussauds on Friday night.

At the event, Defoe introduced Burke to his parents, according to The Sun.

Defoe was previously dated a host of glamour models and reality TV stars, including a broken engagement to retail manager Charlotte Mears in 2007. (ANI)
