Romney wins Washington caucuses ahead of 2012 US prez elections

Washington, Mar 4(ANI): Former Massachusetss Governor and the 2012 White House contender Mitt Romney has won the Washington Republican presidential caucuses.

 

Romney led with 37 percent votes followed by Ron Paul, who amassed 25 percent votes. Rcik Santorum stood at third position with 24 percent, while Newt Gingrich got 11 percent votes.

 

The Washington Republican Party is yet to release the final results.

 

"The voters of Washington have sent a signal that they do not want a Washington insider in the White House. They want a conservative businessman who understands the private sector and knows how to get the federal government out of the way so that the economy can once again grow vigorously," ABC News quoted Romney, as saying.

 

He had held a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the results were tabulated. (ANI)
