Auckland (New Zealand), Mar.3 (ANI): South Africa on Saturday completed a one-day series whitewash of New Zealand with a five-wicket victory in the third and final match at the Eden Park in Auckland.
Fast bowler Marchant de Lange picked up four wickets on his one-day international debut for South Africa, as his side completed a 3-0 clean sweep.
South Africans bowlers first bundled out New Zealand for 206 in 47 overs, and achieved the winning target with the help of a fine 76 from the blade of in form opener Hashim Amla.
Amla, it maybe recalled, had scored 92 in the Napier ODI on Wednesday.
South Africa reached their target with 40 deliveries to spare.
Makeshift opener Wayne Parnell (27) added 80 with Amla, while the partnership between Amla and Albie Morkel (41) was worth 58 runs.
Amla hit seven boundaries in his knock before he mistimed a pull shot to be caught by New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, giving seamer Kyle Mills his 200th wicket in ODIs.
Earlier, New Zealand scored 206. Skipper Brendon McCullum top scored for the hosts with 47.James Franklin (36) and debutant Colin de Grandhomme (36) were the other ones to contribute significantly to the Kiwi total.
South African left-arm spinner Robin Peterson claimed two wickets for 36. Marchant de Lange claimed 4-46.
