London, Mar 2 (ANI): Lady Gaga has launched The Born This Way Foundation at Harvard to help people accept who they are.
Gaga was joined at the launch by her mother and charity co-founder Cynthia Germanotta, TV host Oprah Winfrey and spiritualist Deepak Chopra.
The charity, named after the singer's hit single 'Born This Way', focuses on the importance of accepting yourself for who you are, regardless of race or sexuality. The pop star has herself admitted that she had developed an eating disorder as a child in a bid to look like a 'skinny ballerina'.
"It's not about needing help. It's about wanting to help. How do we work together to make the world a more kind and loving place? " the Sun quoted her as saying.
Gaga hopes to beat bullying and empower American youth with the inspirational and motivational new scheme.
The 25-year-old singer - who has sold an estimated 23 million albums and 64 million singles worldwide - has previously been named one of the most influential people in the world by the best-selling and world renowned New York City magazine, Time. (ANI)
