Pak SC dissatisfied with ISI, MI replies in Adiala jail missing inmates' case

Islamabad, Mar 1 (ANI): The Pakistan Supreme Court has expressed dissatisfaction over the report submitted by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Military Intelligence (MI) in the Adiala jail missing prisoners' case.

The court on Thursday sought a report from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on the case of production of seven of 11 suspects picked up by the intelligence agencies for their alleged involvement in terror attacks.

Headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the three-member bench said that the replies submitted to the court do not justify under which law the civilians were picked up by agencies.

The agencies had explained in a three-page statement submitted before the Supreme Court that they treated court orders with great sanctity, but could not shut their eyes to rebellious acts of internal and external elements involved in serious cases of terrorism.

According to The Dawn, the statement had asserted that agencies had no enmity or bears no grudge against anyone or any section of people.

During the hearing, the bench told the counsel of ISI and MI, Advocate Raja Mohammad Irshad that "you don't know what could be the consequences of this reply".

Irshad, however, blamed the parliament for not doing its work and urged it to introduce new laws. (ANI)
