New Delhi, Feb 29 (ANI): Condemning the growing Chinese atrocities on their fellow compatriots in the Tibet region, scores of Tibetan activists took out a massive protest march here on Wednesday.
In the highly charged agitation, the protestors shouted slogans to highlight the simmering humanitarian crisis in Tibetan region, and urged the international community to intervene in the matter to put an end to the Chinese atrocities.
"The situation in Tibet is getting worse and worse. We ask the international community, specially the United Nations, the European Union and the Indian government, the global community to stand with the voice, and to stand with the Tibetans, say something on China, to pressurise the Chinese government to stop these inhuman activities in Tibet," said Tenzin Younten, a young Tibetan activist.
Member of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, listed the demands of the agitating activists.
"Our demands are to send a fact-finding (team) inside Tibet and to start a dialogue to solve the Tibetan issue. The United Nations (should) also try to involve (itself) on the Tibet issue, not only where the violence is going on, (but) everywhere. The Chinese government, they are doing violence in Tibet, but Tibetan people are doing only non-violence movement inside Tibet," said Phuntsok.
According to media reports, China has also increased security in what it calls the Tibet Autonomous Region and other Tibetan parts of the country, following the self-immolations and sporadic protests against Chinese rule, mostly in Sichuan and Gansu provinces. (ANI)
