Mumbai, Feb 29: The Board of Committee for Cricket in India's (BCCI) selection committee on Wednesday announced the team for Asia Cup tournament to be played in Bangladesh from March 12, dropping opener Virender Sehwag's name from the squad and deputing the Vice captaincy of the team to Virat Kolhi.
The selection committee comprising of-Kris Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Narendra Hirwani, Surendra Bhave and Raja Venkat recalled Ashok Dinda, the Bengal fast bowler into the team along with Yusuf Pathan, who marked his return to competitive cricket with a 78-ball 114 to power Baroda to a 52-run win over Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Out of form Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav have been rested for the tournament.
Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja have been retained in the squad.
Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina have also been given a chance to perform in the Asia cup.
India's first match of the Asia Cup is on March 13 against Sri Lanka. The other participating teams are Pakistan and host, Bangladesh.
The Asia Cup is going to be played between March 12 to 22. (ANI)
