Dharamshala, Feb 29 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has appealed to India's youth to make the country a model to be emulated by the world before the end of the 21st century.
Addressing a seminar here, the Dalai Lama said the system of modern education brought in during British rule has accelerated India's advancement in the field of science and technology.
"I think that the British imperialists introduced modern education, (which) I think (was) quite good. On that basis, Indian knowledge in science, knowledge in technology reached quite high," he added.
He also urged India's youth to make use of their wealth of potential.
"Through your hard work, (if you) utilise the great potential of your brain and your heart, I think (that) within the later part of this century, India itself (will be) internally and externally much developed, (and) can be a good model for the rest of the world," he said.
An advocate of peace and non-violence, the Dalai Lama, 14th of his line, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. He is the spiritual head of the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamshala. (ANI)
