Wellington, Feb 28 (ANI): Jesse Ryder is doubtful for Wednesday's second one-day international against South Africa, as he has not fully recovered from a torn calf muscle.
Pacers Doug Bracewell and Michael Bates have also been omitted from the 12 for the match at McLean Park in Napier, with South Africa 1-0 up in the three-match series.
New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum said Ryder was "bracketed" with Latham as he continues his rehab from a torn calf muscle suffered on December 27, stuff.co.nz reports.
While Ryder is expected to play, team management is taking a cautious approach with the hard-hitting left-hander who's scored 52 and six in two innings against South Africa after being recalled.
A team spokesman later explained Ryder was being managed carefully, and with a hectic playing schedule and regular air travel it was difficult to continue his core rehab.
"He is batting [in the nets] and he's likely to play tomorrow," the spokesman said.atham was summoned last Saturday when James Franklin became a doubtful starter for the first ODI due to a dislocated finger, before being passed fit. (ANI)
