London, Feb 28 (ANI): The Football Association has charged three Premier League stars for making alleged homophobic comments on Twitter.
Manchester United striker Federico Macheda, Newcastle United's Nile Ranger, and Manny Smith of Walsall are being investigated.
They are accused of acting in a way that was "improper and/or brought the game into disrepute" by making "a reference to a person's sexual orientation".
A FA statement said: "The charge is that the players acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute."
The trio has to reply until 4pm on Wednesday. It is not the first time Ranger has been in trouble, The Sun reports.
He angered anti-violence groups after the striker posed "like a gangster" while holding the air gun in a snap taken with friends.
West Ham star Ravel Morrison was last week fined 7,000 pounds by the FA over a homophobic online remark. (ANI)
