Dubai, Feb 27(ANI): Tennis ace Roger Federer has said it would be a special feeling for him to win the gold medal at this year's London Olympics.
Federer has won a record 16 Gland Slams and 71 singles titles, but has never able to conquer the Olympic gold.
"I'd love an Olympic gold, everyone knows that," Gulf News quoted Federer, as saying to the media at the iconic Burj Al Arab on Sunday.
"I've had an amazing experience at all the three Olympics I've played. But this is big milestone for tennis at the Olympics, for all players of my generation. I'm really happy that it happens in our lifetime to be quite honest," he said.
He said he was still feeling great while playing tennis and it would be a very special experience for him to win a gold in the Olympics.
"I'm still in my prime to actually have a shot at not only playing in the Olympics, but to do well. That combination obviously drives me a lot to make sure I'm in good shape and a good position when I enter the tournament," Federer said.
"It will be a very, very big and special atmosphere there, I'm really looking forward to it and I hope I can have a good result there," he added.
Federer was bundled out of the 2004 Athens Olympics in the second round by Thomas Berdych, who is in his half of the draw in Dubai, and then fell to James Blake in the quarter-finals at Beijing four years later (ANI)
