Major Baloch, Pakhtun political parties to boycott Difa-e-Pakistan organized meeting

Islamabad, Mon, 27 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 27 (ANI): In a major setback for the Difa-e-Pakistan Council, all the main Baloch and Pakhtun political and nationalist parties have decided not to attend today's meeting organized by the banned group.

Balochistan National Party, National Party, Jamhoori Watan Party, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan People's Party, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-F were reportedly invited to attend the APC, but they are not participating in it.

"All major Baloch and Pakhtun parties, which have influence in Balochistan's politics, are not attending the APC (All Parties Conference); therefore, it will not achieve its goals," The Nation quoted sources, as saying.

It may be recalled that the Baloch National Front, an alliance of several hardliner nationalist parties and students organisations, has already boycotted the APC.

The DPC's contact committee has been trying from the past four days to convince different political and nationalist parties there to attend the meeting.

However, former PPP Balochistan president Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti, and PML-N leader General (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch have already announced boycotting of the APC. (ANI)
