Strauss still remains my No.1 captain: Flower

London, Feb 27 (ANI): England coach Andy Flower has made it clear that Andrew Strauss still remains his No.1 captain despite success of skippers Alastair Cook in ODIs and Stuart Broad in T20s.

he England coach believes that the policy of having three men as captains in different formats opf the game is working for now.

Strauss saw his Test side lose 3-0 to Pakistan whereas Cook and Broad led sides regained pride by winning their games.

Cook turned the tables on Pakistan 4-0 and Broad's men go in search of another series win in today's T20 decider in Abu Dhabi, The Daily Star reports.

Flower backed Strauss to carry on doing his Test duty for years despite failing to register a Test century in 15 months.

"His status as a leader doesn't increase significantly or decrease significantly over one series. Your standing as a leader is judged over a much longer period of time than that and we'd be fickle to do anything differently," he said.

"He's a very fine leader and a very fine cricketer. He's done some great things for England cricket. They are all very different. Probably the most obvious difference is the amount of experience Strauss has as a leader and the lack of experience in the other two," Flower said.

"They are very much in the learning stage of captaincy. It's quite possible we'll still have three captains when the 2015 World Cup comes. I don't think I could answer the question 'Is it better to have three captains or one?' I think we've got to let this play out a bit further before I could give you a proper answer," he added.

England is likely to play an unchanged squad after winning the second T20 by 38 runs in Dubai on Saturday. (ANI)
