Wellington, Feb 27(ANI): New Zealand bowler Kyle Mills has said he has immense regret about his World Cup bickering with South African batsman Faf du Plessis and insists they have cleared the air and moved on.
He said there was no bad blood between them as both teams trained in overcast, cool conditions in Napier on Monday ahead of Wednesday's second one-day international at McLean Park.
Du Plessis played a big role in South Africa's six-wicket win in the first ODI in Wellington on Saturday, blasting 66 not out off 49 balls, including nine fours and one six, as he and captain AB de Villiers (106 not out) guided home the chase for 254.
Mills, who took 1-27, and du Plessis were pictured exchanging words on the field at Westpac Stadium, but Mills insisted they were friendly ones.
"We're all right. That incident that happened at the World Cup is a thing of the past. I've put a little bit more thought into it, and I really regret what happened," Stuff.co.nz quoted Mills, as saying.
He said his mental state at the point he had a squabble with Du Plessis wasn't right since he was frustrated due to getting injured in the World Cup.
"My mental state at the time, being injured at my second World Cup and it was a game we built up big time during the week, we were highly excited as a team and determined to do well," Mills said.
"Being on the bench through injury I was pretty frustrated and I got caught up in the emotion. It's something I look back on in my career with immense regret. But I've moved on and he's moved on and we're all good," he added. (ANI)
