New Delhi, Mon, 27 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb.27 (ANI): The Delhi Cabinet has decided to hike the reservation for OBC students in government aided/unaided institutions and in the state universities of Delhi from 21 to 27 percent.

The hike will come into force from the 2012-13 academic year. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit chaired the cabinet meeting that decided on this.

Briefing media after the meeting, Dikshit said her government has fulfilled its commitment to provide full 27 percent reservation for OBC students. She further stated that the decision will go a long way in imparting higher/technical education to large number of students coming from weaker sections resulting in their upliftment and providing them ample opportunities of employment. Further, their being educated will also benefit society at large. (ANI)
