Gulmarg, Feb 26 (ANI): In a bid to promote adventure sports, Jammu and Kashmir Government organised skiing coaching camp for the youth here.
Joint Secretary of Kashmir Sports Council Bashir Ahmad said the aim of organising the camp was to provide exposure to children and to lure them towards various kinds of adventure sports.
"The course is still in progress. In total 45 children are participating in the camp and are enjoying Gulmarg. The atmosphere is good and because of heavy snowfall, children are enjoying skiing and we will try and continue such camps in the coming years," said Ahmad.
Children gathered to participate in the 15 day camp to learn skiing free of cost.he participants said it was a great opportunity for them.
"The teachers have taught us techniques of skiing in a better way and different and new techniques of skiing, like techniques, which will help us in balancing ourselves. So we have learned different sorts of techniques," said Rumaisa Jan, a participant.
Winters are a major attraction for tourists in Jammu and Kashmir who arrive to see the snow capped mountains and picturesque Dal lake, which freezes due to low temperature.
The tourist also take advantage of the various snow sports offered by the state like skiing, snow mobile tours, ice skating etc during this time of the year. (ANI)
