Sydney, Feb 26(ANI): Sachin Tendulkar has received an honorary Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) membership for his contribution to cricket at the venue.
SCG Trust chairman Rodney Cavalier presented Tendulkar with the honor before the start of the one-day international between Australia and India on Sunday.
Cavalier lauded Tendulkar's immense contribution to cricket and said he will always be welcomed at the SCG anytime in future.
"The Trust does not award honorary memberships lightly. Sachin is the first overseas player in any sport, and only the second cricketer, to be handed the honor," Stuff.co.nz quoted Cavalier, as saying.
"Cricket fans have been treated to many splendid innings by Sachin at the SCG, including his innings of 241 in 2004 where he shared a magnificent partnership of 353 with VVS Laxman," Cavalier said.
"Sachin has also conducted himself with grace and dignity throughout his career. I'm sure all members and cricket fans would welcome him back to the SCG at any time," he added.
Tendulkar has played 188 Tests and scored a record 15,470 runs, with the SCG generally a happy hunting ground for the Little Master.
He has a Test average of 157 in Sydney, where he has crafted three centuries. (ANI)
