Katarina Witt's cleavage sparks feud between Germany and UK

London, Feb 25 (ANI): Complaints over 'Dancing On Ice' judge Katarina Witt's low-cut outfits have sparked a feud between Britain and her home country Germany.

A newspaper in Germany has demanded their "national treasure" be left alone and accused the UK of insulting their "ice princess" after viewers criticised her choice of clothing.

Following a raft of comments on Twitter about the figure skater's risque outfits on the pre-watershed Sunday night show, German tabloid Bild hit back with a story featuring pictures of over-exposed British glamour models Katie Price and Jodie Marsh.

Under the headline "And what about your t***, lovely Britain?", the newspaper asked whether Brits had "fish and chips in the eyes" and added "the British have insulted our ice princess Kati Witt."

The newspaper also branded the UK as a "land of instant sunburn", where people drink too much and all the men look like Wayne Rooney.

Witt, a German double Olympic gold medal-winning skater, was said to be upset over the criticism about her low-cut outfits.

The judge, who once stripped for Playboy, now says she will change her outfit style in order to be taken more seriously as a judge by viewers.

"Katarina is getting progressively more daring with the amount of cleavage she is showing," the Daily Mail quoted a comment on Twitter.

"Katarina's cleavage takes over my screen on Sundays. We know you look hot but put it away now and then!" another comment said.

However, the 46-year-old's assets seem to be hit with other Britons.

"Bring back Katarina's cleavag," One viewer, Gwen Hamilton, said.

"What's 'If you've got it, flaunt it' in German? Tell Katarina," another said.

Meanwhile, Witt was considerably more covered up when she appeared on last Sunday's show, which was watched by more than 7 million viewers.

According to the Express, when she was asked about her more demure look, she referred to the comments.

"You read the comments. I didn't think my outfits would make such big news," she said. (ANI)
