Congress is synonymous with corruption: Advani

Agra/ Aligarh, Feb 25 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani has said that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government is synonymous with corruption.

"It is only due to the character of the incumbent government that the country has been associated only with corruption over the past years. So many financial scams have been exposed," Advani told a gathering here.

"Political outfits like the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress party cannot run a sincere government or enforce law and order. Such a party has no right to come to power in the state," he added.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav appealed to his supporters to vote for his party.

" It's our appeal and a request to you to please support our candidates in the elections, so that we can make a good government here in Uttar Pradesh," Yadav told a gathering in Aligarh.

"I am happy to see that the youth have come out in large numbers to support us. And the Samajwadi Party has been saying this for a very long time, that the we will never get old and will always remain young and I am happy to see that that the youth has come out in huge numbers to support us. As you have seen, the Bahujan Samaj Party has done nothing but only been corrupt, criminal and unjust with the people," he added.

The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.

A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
