Another Saudi posts insulting tweets about Prophet

Riyadh, Fri, 24 Feb 2012 ANI

Riyadh, Feb 24 (ANI): Now, another Saudi Arabia national has courted controversy by posting tweets that insult Prophet Mohammad.

Hamoud Saleh Al Amri, who said that he converted to Christianity, and calls himself "Makkah Pastor", was widely criticized for his tweets, the Saudi news site Sabq reports.

According to Gulf News, the tweets sparked, within hours of their posting, a flood of condemnations from social network users who called for his arrest and trial.

Some suggested death as the only way to silence those who dared to insult God and His prophet. They said the tweets were "disturbingly profane and extremely shocking."

According to Sabq, Al Amri was once arrested in 2004 for his attacks on Islam.

Saudi Arabia recently arrested a columnist Hamza Kashgari, 23, after he posted tweets that denigrated God and Prophet Mohammad.

Kashgari, who's case is being reviewed by the religious authorities in the country, could even face execution for blasphemy and for abusing Prophet Mohammed. (ANI)
