Gary Barlow sent to US to sign music stars for Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Washington, Feb 24 (ANI): Princes William and Harry have asked Gary Barlow to go to America to find US music stars for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in June.

The event will take place outside Buckingham Palace in London on June 4 to mark 60 years of the queen being on the throne.

It is said that the 'Take That' singer is trying to recruit P. Diddy and Kanye West for the free event and he feels it is important to meet the artists face-to-face to make them feel "more engaged" in the spectacle.

"I've got to go to America because some of the requests I have are from the princes, so they're acts I've got to follow up on," Contactmusic quoted Barlow as saying.

"I try to meet all the artists because then they feel more engaged, they're more in tune with what's going on.

"I know as an artist myself, often you turn up at these events and you don't really know what they're for, or what it's about. It's so vital that everybody knows how important this event is for Britain. So I'll try to meet everybody," he added.

Gary has already secured the services of British music legends Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Cliff Richard and Dame Shirley Bassey for the event, and the 41-year-old star is "keeping his fingers crossed" about landing some top American acts.

A source told the Daily Mirror: "Gary's keeping his fingers crossed. No formal approaches have been made yet and, of course, it will depend on their schedules."

Gary also hinted 'Take That' may even sign up for the concert, with plenty more names expected to join the line-up.

"You never know whether 'Take That' will play. We'll be announcing more names every month, so look out," he said. (ANI)
