'UK not to interfere in Pak 'internal affair' related to Balochistan'

Islamabad , Fri, 24 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 24 (ANI): British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adom Thomson has ruled out the possibility of his country's government helping Islamabad tackle insurgency in Balochistan, insisting that London will not interfere in Pakistan's internal affairs.

Thomson said that some separatist leaders living in Britain were responsible for such acts.

"At this point of time, there is no such proposal. It is Pakistan's internal affair and it understands better than any other country," The Nation quoted Thomson, as saying.

On being asked for his opinion about some London-based Pakistani Baloch separatist leaders living in London and openly supporting anti-Pakistan activities, Thomson said: "We pay very close attention to the behaviour of the people living there".

Shrugging off the notion that foreign powers like the United States and United Kingdom were directly or indirectly backing the Baloch insurgency, he said: "Why should they destabilise Pakistan. He said London does not want to get involved in offering any help to Islamabad merely for the sensitivity of the matter."

"We do not want to upset state of trust both UK and Pakistan enjoy in their cordial and friendly bilateral relations," he added. (ANI)
