New Delhi, Feb 23 (ANI): The Central Government has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the failure of gate numbers 13 and 16 of the Farakka Barrage.
Central Water Commission Chairman R.C. Jha will conduct the inquiry, and the report will be submitted within 15 working days.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called on the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Wednesday evening during which she raised the issue of the leakage in Farakka Barrage.
Dr. Singh on his part assured Banerjee that the Ministry of Water Resources is working on plugging the leakages in gate numbers 16 and 13 and the leakages will be plugged during March 2012. (ANI)
