Jammu, Feb 23 (ANI): Activists of National Panthers Party (JKNPP) staged a demonstration against the Omar Abdullah led coaliation government on Thursday on the opening day of the state assembly's budget session in Jammu.
Panther Party activists along with JKNPP chief Bhim Singh raised slogans against the government as they were ushered into police vehicles.
Singh condemned the police action and demanded state government's dismissal.
"This is the oppression of the government. We appeal to the Governor that this rotting, tainted government be dismissed. It is a government of thieves, it has no cause to be in power," he said.
The issues of corruption and bad governance are slated to be major bones of contention during the budget session this year.
The Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Commission had recently issued notices to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his advisor Mubarak Gul and Devinder Singh Rana, his political advisor and his other associates over their appointments, saying they were a political favor at the cost of public exchequer.
The opposition had condemned these appointments and accused Abdullah's government of misusing the support provided by New Delhi.
Media reports have said that the opposition parties may boycott the Minister of Public Enterprise Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Health Minister Taj Mohiuddin of the Omar Abdullah-led government, who face serious corruption charges. (ANI)
