Melbourne, Feb 22(ANI): Veteran Australian batsman Ricky Ponting is now eyeing the Ashes series against England to come out of his current form.
"It'd be great to get back to the Ashes. If I'm a good enough player to do that, then it'd be great to go back there one more time and hopefully have a few better memories of England than what I've had the last couple of tours," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.
But he would have to confront key players before the Ashes, including Kemar Roach Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander.ormer Australian cricketer Justin Langer has backed Ponting to accomplish his goal.
"It would be massive. I've got no worries about the attacks he will come up against, because if the desire is that strong he will do the work he needs to do and focus like he needs to. It [the Ashes] might be the thing he needs to keep him really focused," Langer said.
"One thing we know about Ponting is he is fully committed, so I'm not worried about who he is going to face because he's overcome them in the last few months. He's overcome them for 20 years," he added. (ANI)
