Kolkata, Feb.20 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a cotton and foam factory here late on Sunday night, gutting property worth millions.
No casualties were reported.
As reported earlier, a stack of elastic caught fire, which later spread to other floors of the seven-storey building, as there was inflammable material around.
West Bengal's Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan told reporters that situation is under control.
"The fire is totally under control. There was fire in three floors- ground floor, first floor and second floor. Fire has been extinguished at ground floor and first floor. (Fire is left) Partially in second floor, we are working on it. Within one or two hours, fire will be completely out. No injuries, no casualties and no one is stuck up. The fire fighting is going on smoothly. There is nothing to worry," said Khan.
Around, 20 fire tenders were rushed to spot to douse the fire.
The owner of the firm blamed the fire on a conspiracy by some miscreants.
Khan said an inquiry has been ordered into the mishap. (ANI)
